Extremely heavy rains in both January and March of 2023 caused the Santa Maria River to breach, resulting in the displacement of area residents due to extensive flooding. Seamair was brought in to reroute a part of the Santa Maria River back to the main channel and away from areas that were experiencing soil erosion and damage.
